Why it matters
Most skincare treats
what it can see.
Throda treats
what it cannot.
The skin's most important processes are invisible.
The microbiome, the immune system, cellular turnover, barrier integrity — these are the mechanisms that determine how skin looks, feels and ages. Yet most products address surface symptoms without ever engaging these systems.
Throda was built from a different premise: that long-term skin health requires working with the skin's own biology, not against it.
This page explains how.

IMNX+
®
Technology.
IMNX+® is powered by tribiotics (prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics). These advanced microbial strains and smart microorganisms support every layer of skin defence.
Unlike single-ingredient approaches that target one pathway, IMNX+® activates the full network of mechanisms your skin relies on to stay resilient, balanced and healthy.

Pre
Prebiotic Nourishment
Prebiotics function as a selective food source for beneficial microorganisms. By nourishing specific bacterial populations, they shift the microbiome toward balance — creating the environment in which everything else can work.
The science
Primary mechanism
Fermentable fibres promote colonisation resistance by feeding commensal bacteria. This reduces pathogenic overgrowth and lowering the inammatory signalling at the barrier interface that drives sensitivity and reactivity.
Pro
Probiotic Communication
Biotech-engineered bacterial strains restore the diversity and function of the skin microbiome. These strains communicate directly with the skin's immune system, modulating inflammatory responses and inhibiting the growth of harmful microbes.
The science
Primary mechanism
Lactobacillus and Lactococcus ferment lysates interact with the skin's pattern recognition receptors, downregulating pro-inflammatory cytokines and supporting regulatory T-cell activity - reducing chronic inflammation at the source.
Post
Postbiotic Guidance
Postbiotics are the bioactive compounds produced by probiotic activity — the end products of fermentation that directly benefit the skin. They soothe, strengthen the barrier, accelerate cellular renewal and direct the long-term recovery process.
The science
Primary mechanism
Ferment filtrates stimulate ceramide synthesis and upregulate tight junction protein expression - directly reinforcing the barrier's structural integrity and reducing transepidermal water loss.
Patent Pending Formula
4 years in development by specialist British chemists.
IMNX+® did not emerge from a standard formulation brief. It was built from scratch alongside specialist British chemists, taking over four years of research and development. We selected, tested and refined bacterial strains for their specific compatibility with the skin's biology, their stability in an airless delivery system, and their ability to work in concert rather than in isolation.
The result is a formula that passes a 9.5 out of 10 microbiome-friendly assessment — one of the highest scores recorded across a four-phase independent evaluation — while remaining suitable for sensitive skin, rosacea, acne-prone and eczema-prone skin.

Skin Architecture
Understanding your
skin's systems.
The dryness. The redness. The irritation, The breakouts. They're rarely separate problems, and they all trace back to what's happening underneath.
System 01
Microbiome
What it is
A complex ecosystem of trillions of bacteria, fungi, archaea and viruses, colonising every centimetre of the skin's surface in numbers far denser than most people realise. A diverse, balanced microbiome supports the skin's natural barrier function and helps maintain optimal surface pH. When microbial diversity is reduced, often through harsh actives, environmental exposure or over-cleansing, the skin's surface ecosystem becomes unbalanced, which is associated with increased visible sensitivity and barrier disruption.
Why it matters
The microbiome isn't a passive layer sitting on the skin, it's an active participant in its defences. It produces antimicrobial peptides that crowd out harmful bacteria before they take hold, ferments lipids into compounds that keep surface pH inhospitable to pathogens, and signals directly to the skin's immune cells to calibrate how aggressively they respond to everyday triggers. Disrupt that ecosystem and the skin doesn't just look different, its entire defence network starts operating with less intelligence.
System 02
Barrier
What it is
The outermost layer of the epidermis, a tightly packed structure of corneocytes held together by a matrix of ceramides, cholesterol and free fatty acids, commonly described as bricks and mortar. This structure is the skin's primary defence against water loss and the first line of resistance against irritants, allergens and pathogens attempting to penetrate from the outside.
Why it matters
When the lipid matrix is intact, water stays in and irritants stay out, the architecture works exactly as designed. Strip away ceramides through over-exfoliation, harsh surfactants or environmental stress, and the mortar between the bricks erodes. Water escapes through what's known as transepidermal water loss, while allergens and irritants gain easier passage inward, which is why a compromised barrier rarely shows up as just one symptom. Dryness, tightness and reactivity tend to arrive together, because they're all downstream of the same structural failure.
System 03
Immune
Defence
What it is
Skin runs its own dedicated immune system, distinct from the rest of the body's, built from Langerhans cells, keratinocytes capable of generating inflammatory signals, and resident T cells that patrol the epidermis around the clock. This network is constantly assessing contact, deciding in real time whether something touching the skin warrants a response or should be ignored.
Why it matters
A well calibrated immune defence is selective, mounting a response against genuine threats like pathogens or UV damage while staying quiet around harmless contact. That calibration depends heavily on a healthy barrier and microbiome, and when either is compromised, the immune system starts misreading ordinary triggers, a change in temperature, a new product, mild pollution, as threats worth fighting. That overcorrection is what surfaces as redness, flushing and heightened sensitivity to things that never used to bother the skin.
System 04
Cellular
Protection
What it is
At a cellular level, skin is under constant low grade attack. UV radiation, pollution and ordinary metabolic activity all generate free radicals, unstable molecules that damage DNA and degrade the structural proteins responsible for firmness. Cellular protection refers to the skin's internal countermeasures, antioxidant enzymes, DNA repair pathways and structural reinforcement, that work continuously to limit this damage before it accumulates.
Why it matters
Collagen and elastin don't fade out gradually with age, they're broken down by oxidative stress faster than the skin can rebuild them, and that imbalance is what ageing actually looks like at a cellular level. Strong cellular protection narrows that gap, slowing visible ageing not by adding something to the skin but by reducing how much damage has to be repaired in the first place. Without it, the deficit compounds over years, fine lines deepen, firmness declines, and skin's overnight repair capacity becomes less and less able to keep pace.
