I struggled with persistent irritation and sensitivity that felt impossible to manage. My skin was reactive, unpredictable, and difficult to soothe, regardless of what I used. In a crowded and confusing market, layering multiple products is encouraged to ‘fix’ these issues as they arise. I found myself caught in that cycle, and in truth, the more I added to my skin, the more it reacted. Determined to regain control, I realised I needed to understand my skin at a deeper level to know how to care for it.
I began researching skin biology, and what I discovered changed everything. Every function, from repair to protection, is already hardwired within the skin. It’s an intelligent organ with a delicate ecosystem, and at its core are the skin barrier and microbiome. They work together to protect and defend, but when exposed to factors such as excessive routines, harsh ingredients, and over use of actives, these natural processes become compromised. My skin was overwhelmed, and I was unknowingly breaking down its defences.
I stripped back my routine and prioritised gentle care to strengthen my skin. It became calmer, more predictable, and more resilient. But as I deepened my research, I realised that skin care wasn’t just about the products we use—it’s also about the external forces our skin faces everyday.
Even with a refined routine, my skin was still vulnerable to environmental stressors beyond my control, such as pollution, airborne irritants, weather fluctuations, and daily blue light exposure. These factors are often overlooked but can silently compromise the skin’s integrity over time. I wanted a more empowering solution—one that truly enhanced the skin’s strength, equipping it to combat these challenges too.
The vision was simple—to change how we care for our skin, by strengthening its natural defences. Determined to create something different, I worked hard to develop a unique formulation collaborating with specialist chemists. Four years later, Throda Skincare was born. Proudly produced in England, Throda is built on a commitment to quality, sustainability, and results.
Skincare isn’t about masking problems, chasing trends, or forcing quick fixes. It’s not about overloading your skin in search of perfection. True skincare is about fortifying the skin so it defends, regenerates, and adapts on its own. When your skin is resilient, everything follows: hydration lasts longer, radiance comes naturally, and the visible signs of ageing are slowed at the source. Because healthy skin isn’t just beautiful—it’s powerful.
